He was born in Alexandria. He lived there until death. It is just
that Egypt was under the Greek rule.

Diophantus too. It is a common myth that they all lived in mainland
Greece.

Classical Greeks thought like Aristotle. If something was Platonic,
it might be from Egypt.

Pythagoras also was a researcher in Egypt. He finally settled in
Southern Italy. He died in there. Plato travelled to Southern Italy
many and long times. He learned Pythagoreanism during those travels.
